Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is a handsome, year-round evergreen shrub that brings structure and substance to any garden. These robust 225-250cm specimens arrive as rootballed plants, well-established and ready to make an immediate impact. With their glossy, deep green foliage and elegant upright habit, Cherry Laurels are perfect for creating screens, hedging, or as striking specimen plants in borders. They’re particularly valued for their reliability and low-maintenance nature, making them ideal for both experienced gardeners and newcomers alike.

These plants are exceptionally versatile and thrive in most UK garden conditions. They grow well in sun to partial shade and are remarkably tolerant of different soil types, including poor, heavy clay and chalk soils. Once established, Cherry Laurels are drought-tolerant and need minimal feeding or fussing. They’re also among the fastest-growing evergreens, so they quickly establish themselves and deliver that mature look without the long wait. Their dense foliage means they’re excellent for privacy and wind protection, and they work beautifully as a living backdrop for other plantings.

Maintenance is straightforward. A light trim after flowering in spring will keep plants neat and encourage bushy growth, though they’re equally happy left to grow naturally. In mild winters, fragrant creamy-white flower spikes appear in spring, followed by attractive dark berries that ripen from red to black. Birds love them, adding wildlife interest to your garden. The foliage remains pristine throughout the year, providing reliable colour and structure even in winter months when many other plants fade away.

At 225-250cm, these are substantial, quality plants that deliver immediate garden impact. The rootball format means they establish quickly once planted, provided they’re kept well-watered during their first growing season. Space them 1.5-2 metres apart if creating a hedge, or position as a standalone feature. These Cherry Laurels represent genuine value for those seeking a dependable, handsome evergreen that will perform year after year with minimal intervention.
