Cistus Silver Pink c5

Description

Cistus Silver Pink is a striking evergreen shrub that brings Mediterranean charm to any garden. Its silvery-green foliage provides textural interest throughout the year, whilst delicate pink flowers emerge in abundance during late spring and early summer, creating a beautiful focal point in sunny borders and gravelly beds. This is a plant that rewards you with colour and structure in equal measure, looking equally attractive whether in full bloom or displaying its elegant foliage during the quieter months.

This variety thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it ideal for south-facing borders, rock gardens, and Mediterranean-style schemes. It’s remarkably drought-tolerant once established, so it’s perfect if you’re looking to reduce watering commitments or create a low-maintenance garden. Cistus performs best in poor to moderately fertile soil and actually prefers lean conditions to rich feeding, which makes it an economical choice that doesn’t demand constant attention.

Care is straightforward and minimal. Once planted, allow it to settle and develop a strong root system before expecting best results. Light, gentle pruning after flowering helps maintain a compact, bushy shape, though it’s not essential if you prefer a more natural form. The plant is hardy in most UK locations, though it appreciates shelter from severe frosts and cold winds in exposed northern gardens. Avoid waterlogged soil at all costs, as this causes far more problems than drought ever could.

Cistus Silver Pink reaches approximately 60-90cm in height and spread, making it a neat, manageable size for borders and containers alike. Its combination of year-round foliage interest, summer flowers, low-maintenance requirements, and drought tolerance makes it an excellent investment for gardeners seeking style without the fuss. Whether you’re establishing a Mediterranean-inspired scheme or simply want a reliable, attractive shrub that performs beautifully in the sunniest corners of your garden, this is a plant that won’t disappoint.
