Photinia Fraseri Red Robin 100-125cm C10

Description

Photinia Fraseri Red Robin is a stunning evergreen shrub that delivers year-round colour and structure to any garden or landscape scheme. This particular specimen is supplied at a mature size of 125-150cm, making it an instant impact addition to beds, borders, and screening projects. The plant’s most distinctive feature is its vibrant foliage, which displays a gorgeous combination of green and creamy white variegation. Each new flush of growth emerges with striking pink and red tones, creating a dynamic display that evolves throughout the growing season. This colour variation makes Red Robin an excellent choice for adding visual interest during the winter months when many other plants fade into dormancy.

Red Robin is remarkably low-maintenance once established, making it ideal for gardeners seeking decorative plants without demanding care routines. The shrub will reach approximately 175cm in height and 100cm in spread at maturity, developing into a substantial architectural feature. It’s fully hardy to -20°C, so you can rely on it to perform well across the UK without winter protection. The plant thrives in well-drained soil and performs equally well in full sun or partial shade positions, offering genuine flexibility in garden placement. For best results and most vibrant colouration, position it where it receives a good level of sunlight.

Minimal pruning is required beyond an occasional trim to maintain shape and encourage bushy growth. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system, then the plant becomes increasingly drought-tolerant. Feed in spring with a balanced fertiliser to support vigorous growth, though Red Robin rarely shows signs of significant nutrient deficiency. Its evergreen nature means it provides visual structure and interest throughout winter, whilst the colourful new growth in spring creates a fresh, welcoming focal point in your garden. Whether used as a specimen plant, part of a mixed border, or as a screening shrub, Photinia Fraseri Red Robin delivers reliable, beautiful foliage that will enhance your outdoor space for years to come.
