Viburnum Eve Price 1/2 STD 50cm Head

Description

Viburnum Eve Price is an outstanding choice for gardeners seeking reliable, year-round interest in a manageable size. This compact cultivar has been specially selected for its exceptional ornamental qualities, producing delicate pink-white flowers that are intensely fragrant, particularly during the cooler months when their scent is most welcome in the garden. The glossy, dark green foliage provides an attractive backdrop throughout the year, ensuring your borders remain clothed even in winter. At 50cm head height on a half standard form, this plant offers instant structure and maturity to any garden scheme without dominating the space.

The beauty of Viburnum Eve Price lies in its flexibility and forgiving nature. It thrives equally well in full sun or partial shade, making it suitable for various garden positions. The plant performs best in well-draining soil, though it’s reasonably tolerant of different soil types and even chalky conditions. Plant it in a sheltered spot if possible to protect the delicate flowers from harsh winter winds and to allow its fragrance to carry further through the garden.

Care is straightforward and undemanding. Water regularly during the first growing season to establish a strong root system, then the plant becomes quite drought-tolerant once settled. Minimal pruning is required, though you can lightly trim after flowering if needed to maintain its tidy, compact habit. In spring, a balanced fertiliser will encourage vigorous growth and abundant flowering. Watch out for scale insects or whitefly in the growing season, though problems are generally rare.

This half standard form works beautifully as a specimen plant in a small border, in a courtyard garden, or even in a large container on the patio where its fragrance can be enjoyed at close quarters. Its year-round appeal makes it an excellent investment that will provide interest through every season, whilst the fragrant flowers make it a true sensory delight during the flowering period.
